Azaleya: A Thoughtful Script for Real Design Work
Designer Notes You’ll Actually Use
- Always test in black and white first. Azaleya’s subtlety disappears in low-contrast environments—what reads beautifully on screen may vanish on newsprint or recycled label stock.
- Check small-size readability early. At 14pt or smaller, spacing tightens and some letters (‘e’, ‘c’, ‘s’) start to merge. Stick to 18pt minimum for printed labels and 24pt+ for web headers.
- Mock it up—on real surfaces, not just screens. Print a product label mockup, hold a Canva template on tablet view, drape a merch mockup over fabric. Azaleya changes character depending on context, and assumptions fail fast there.
- Compare spacing rigorously. Kerning is thoughtful, but not automatic. Tighten pairs like ‘To’, ‘We’, and ‘Va’ manually in logo design. Loosen ‘r’ + ‘n’ combos if they read as ‘m’ at distance.
- Test pairings across categories. Try Azaleya beside a sturdy serif font for editorial balance, a geometric sans serif for modern contrast, a minimalist script font for layered texture, and a bold display font for hierarchy play. Avoid pairing with other high-contrast script fonts unless you’re intentionally creating visual tension.
- Confirm commercial licensing before any client or business use. Azaleya is a premium font—and Script Amp’s license covers digital products, print runs, and resale assets like Canva templates, but double-check usage caps and attribution requirements if distributing editable files.
